Galway Wool is Ireland's only native breed. The ultra dyeable and natural creamy white fleece is ideal for pretty much any fibre craft and we're proud to be able to add this breed to our collection of Natural Fibre Tops.
Galway Wool is exclusively sourced through the Galway Sheep Breeders Association from purebred Galway sheep. These sheep and their wool is deeply connected to the heritage of traditional Aran sweaters and Irish tweed.
Though the Galway breed can be found across Ireland and parts of the UK, its wool is incredibly rare. With fewer than 2,000 breeding females remaining worldwide, working with Galway wool means embracing a piece of textile history that is both precious and unique.
