Snowy White Galway fleece is an exceptional multipurpose fibre. It gives excellent definition and structure. When used in combination with finer and soft wool, it makes an ideal fibre for both outer and inner worn garments.

Classified as ‘long wool’ sheep, the staples from a Galway Fleece are not exceptionally long, they are firm and crisp with an indistinct, fluffy crimp. The staples are long enough for Worsted Spinning, giving good stitch definition and making it an ideal yarn for textured knits such as Aran.

Whilst not regarded as soft or fine wool when combined with all types of softer wool including merino, it provides structure and strength whilst supporting the preservation of Irelands Native beautiful white sheep.

Due to the rarity of Galway Wool, Ireland's only native breed, it is uniquely traceable.

A versatile fibre, it's ideal for home interiors and lifestyle products such as tapestry, wall art, Macrame, throws and upholstery, unique garments and apparel and rugs and carpets.

Galway wool is naturally flame-retardant and has a much higher ignition threshold than many other fibres. Being biodegradable, Galway Wool can be returned to the soil, where it decomposes, releasing valuable nutrients into the ground.

This particular clip came to Donegal Yarns from the Galway Wool Co-op. While it has been professionally washed to remove most of the vegetable matter, some VM may still remain but this is easily removing during carding or spinning.

Available in bundles of 50g, 100g, 150g and 200g.
